Great Morning

IT is only 11:30 in the morning and already it is a great morning.
I Have been trying for the past few years to get in touch with old friends that I have lost touch with. Last year I found my best friend Monica after trying to find her for almost 7 years. She moved to Oklahoma right before we were to begin high school. We wrote for a couple of years and then she came back the summer of '95 to visit her dad. After that we completely lost touch. Then when the terrorist act on 9/11 happened I decided that I really needed to connect with this old friend. So for 7 years I tried and tried. I joined a site reunion.com and after about two years they told me they had found some with Monicas name. I took a chance and sent this person an email asking if it was the same one that I grew up with. It turns out it was. She said that she had also been looking for me. She sent me her cell phone number. On January 6, 2008 I heard my best friends voice for the first time in 13 years. Ever since then we have been doing the best we can to keep in touch. We dont always talk everyday or every week but every so often we will send the other person an email or a comment on myspace to let the other person know we are still thinking about them.

Now onto why this morning has been such a good morning. After Monica Moved to Oklahoma my family and I moved to a new neighborhood. As it turns out I wasnt the only new kid in the neighborhood. There was a new girl named Christina. She and I became fast friends. We spent a lot of time together that year. She only lived a couple of blocks away. After our freshman year we learned she was moving back to Kentucky. It was a hard summer. We didnt have time to exchange addresses or anything. So naturally we lost touch. A couple of years ago I decided that I wanted to try and find her along with trying to find Monica. A couple of days ago I did a search on facebook. I got a hit, so I sent this person an email (noticing a pattern yet) and I recieved an email back this morning. It was Christina. She did remember me and gave me her phone number. I havent called her but believe me I will be.

I also am lucky enough that my best friend from high school is coming home this week, it will be the first time in five years that I have seen him( yes he and I lost touch for a little while) The circumstances for him coming home arent the greatest because he is shipping out to Iraq next month. I only get two days to spend time with him and I dont even know in that two days how much time I will get to spend with him because of all the people he needs to see but I will make the most of what time I do have. I also look forward to getting to know his wife. I hope that our common bond through Matt will be enough. Maybe we can be mutual support for each other while Matt is gone. We will see how it goes.

I made A LOT of friends in High school and before that. And so far I have been lucky enough to keep in touch with most of them. I am trying to be a better friend to everyone. I am also lucky that I have been able to find friends of the past and I am not going to give up on finding more. There are so many that I want to connect with.

To all of my present friends that I havent been the best friend I could possibly be I am going to try harder. To all of the friends that I have made recently I will be the best friend I can possibly be. And to all the friends that I have completely lost touch with and havent foudnd, I will find a way to find you.

Life is short and friends are here to make it worth the time you have.
